Youth Day Event Details

Where: Crist Park, 105 Fifth Street
Parking: Walk, bike, carpool, and park on neighborhood side streets.
Cost: FREE to attend, food onsite with items to purchase.

Youth Day at Crist Park is an event created by the Frederick Youth Commission for youth aged 13 to 18 to provide a place to relax, have fun, and learn about mental and physical wellness in a low-pressure, supportive environment. The Commission recognized that many teens don’t feel they have a place to relax and have fun, and that busy schedules can create stress. They also noted that some teens may need support with mental and physical wellness, but aren’t sure where to begin. We are offering an event that offers both! 

Hang out with friends, try new activities, and connect with resources that actually matter to you. 

What to expect

• A safe space to hang out, meet people, and try something new
• Mental health and wellness resources in a casual, approachable setting
• Info from local gyms, studios, and community support organizations

Connect with resources

• Mental health counselors from North Range Behavioral
• Equine and art therapists
• Victim advocates and Suicide Prevention Center representatives
• Local gyms and wellness studios

Free swag for the first 200 teens who check in

• Tie-dye t-shirts at the event
• Mental health stickers and fidgets

Activities all evening

• Inflatables
• Movie in the park
• Dunk tank featuring Frederick High School SROs and teachers
• Talent show in the gazebo with prizes
• Yoga in the park
• Open games and sports for anyone to join
• Tie-dye craft station
• Mental health pledge wall for the future Frederick Youth Center
• Free mental health journals while supplies last
• Pickup soccer and ultimate frisbee equipment available

Mental Health Counselors, Yoga Studios, or Gym Representatives Wanted

We’re looking for mental health counselors or representatives from yoga studios, Zumba classes, or gyms who can attend the event and set up a table. We would love to highlight your business at the event and provide teens with helpful resources on seeking help and getting and staying healthy. This event is free for all counselors and gyms; we just want you to be there! Please email our Youth Day Coordinator if you are interested in participating in this event. 

Yoga in the Park Sign-Up

Take a break and reset with Yoga in the Park. Join us under the trees at Crist Park for a relaxed, beginner-friendly session led by Carbon Valley Recreation Center. Bring a yoga mat if you have one (we’ll have a few extras), invite a friend, and come hang out. Session starts at 5:00 pm, with check-in opening at 4:45 pm.

Talent Show Sign-Up

Got a talent you want to show off? Sign up to be part of the Youth Day Talent Show. Whether you sing, dance, perform, or have a unique skill, we want to see it. We’ll have a sound system and microphone set up at the gazebo for performances. A schedule will be created the day before the event, and you’ll receive your time slot by email. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
