Planning

The Planning Department is here to serve you.  We are currently available for meetings via Zoom and in-person meetings by appointment or over the phone.

The Planning Department is responsible for coordinating the review of development applications to ensure compliance with town policies, codes, and regulations. Types of applications include annexations, comprehensive plan amendments, zoning map amendments, subdivisions, oil and gas extraction, and residential, commercial, and industrial development projects.

Application Process

The Planning Department helps guide land developers through the land use application process, which generally begins with a pre-application meeting. Neighborhood meetings will be held following the pre-application meeting to provide an opportunity for neighboring property owners to view the proposed development prior to formal submittal to the Town. Neighborhood meeting dates will be posted on the Town Meetings Calendar

Once an application is submitted, staff coordinates a formal review of the application through the town Development Review Committee (planning, engineering, fire, and attorney), along with outside agencies, and organizations.

Final approvals are made by the Development Review Committee, Planning Commission, or Board of Trustees depending on the type of development project.

Additional Planning Services

Planning staff is also available to the public in a less formal capacity to provide information on zoning, current construction projects, town services and other issues related to land development.
