Windy Gap Storage – Dry Creek

About the Project

The Town has a long-term agreement to lease storage in Dry Creek Reservoir. This reservoir is south of Carter Lake and can hold Colorado-Big Thompson (CBT) and Windy Gap water delivered through Crater Lake. There are limited locations that Windy Gap water can be legally stored. The Town identified Dry Creek as the most beneficial location for the Town to store Windy Gap water because water can be stored there and treated at Carter Lake Filter Plant. The water can be treated with the Town’s CBT water, due to the existing agreement with Central Weld County Water District, who is part owner of Carter Lake Filter Plant, for treatment and delivery of water to the Town.
