In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Upstate Colorado and Weld County partnered to provide relief to qualifying businesses through the Weld County Service Industry Relief Fund. The program ran from December 1, 2020, through February 28, 2021. Local businesses were encouraged to apply to receive up to $10,000 in grant funds for COVID-related expenses or lost revenue from November 1, 2020, through January 31, 2021. The Town of Frederick's municipal report shows eleven total applicants with nine awarded grants totaling $81,006.
Weld County provided funds for the grant program through the Economic Development Fund, totaling $2M in available funds. Businesses that were hit the hardest by COVID-related business guidelines and restrictions were given priority consideration. These businesses included restaurants, bars and other food and beverage service providers, gyms and fitness centers, live event venues and movie theaters, entertainment, including bowling centers, arcades, and recreation facilities.
