Event Details

Miners Day is our premier community event that originated as a celebration to honor and remember Frederick’s mining heritage. This annual event features family-oriented fun and entertainment throughout the day including a parade, burro race, exhibitor booths food/refreshment vendors, activities, contests and live entertainment. Per tradition, Miners Day will conclude with a spectacular evening concert and fireworks display.

Do you have what it takes to be Fred the Miner? 

We are looking for Fred! Do you or someone you know have what it takes to be “Fred the Miner” for this year’s Miner's Day? Are you willing to dress the part, carry the gear, greet our attendees, and be the subject of many photos throughout the day on September 18th? 

If you think you've got what it takes, sign up here! Auditions will take place at Finale Friday Farmers Market on July 30th, 2021 in the Miners Museum at 4:30 pm. Please arrive at 4:15 pm.

4th Annual Miners Day Pack Burro Race

Celebrate Miners Day with this great sport begun by some of Colorado’s 19th-century miners. This is one leg of the Western Pack Burro Ass-ociation 2021 race season! This 10K race will begin right after the Frederick Miners Day parade (between 11 am & 11:30 am).

The 10K race will start at Fifth St. and Oak St. (Downtown Frederick), head north along the trail and through the tunnel towards the Frederick Recreation Area, loop around Milavec Lake, head back south to the Frederick Gateway at Colorado Blvd. and Hwy 52 and then back north to the finish line in Centennial Park. There are some small bridges along the paved trail.

The entry fee is $54.50 and includes programmed RFID chips for each registered racer. This does not include a burro.
