Frederick High School Scholarship

The Board of Trustees established the scholarship program in 2008. Awarded to Frederick residents who are graduating seniors each year. The scholarship is payable at two thousand dollars ($2,000.00) per year for the first four years of college eligibility not to exceed six years after the initial award as long as the student maintains their eligibility. Frederick residents who are graduating from one of the following are eligible to apply for the scholarship.

  1. A St. Vrain Valley School District high school.
  2. An accredited high school in Colorado.
  3. An accredited home school program.
  4. A high school that is part of the Frederick feeder system

The Town of Frederick 2026 Scholarship Application is closed for the 25-26 school year. 

Requirements for non-St. Vrain Valley School District application:

  • One letter of recommendation or nomination
  • A student essay as described herein
  • A high school transcript, including cumulative high school grade point average (GPA).

Nominate a student! Nominations for non-St. Vrain Valley School District students end on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.  

The 2025-2026 Scholarship submissions will close for non-St. Vrain Valley School District students on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.

Qualifications for students who are not presently in the St. Vrain Valley School District:

  • The applicant must be a graduating senior from an accredited high school or homeschool program 
  • The applicant must be a resident of the Town of Frederick 
  • The applicant must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher and must have taken a college preparatory curriculum (the commission has the latitude to consider a candidate who, due to exceptional circumstances, merits consideration from the Commission and may not have the requisite grade point average) 
  • The applicant must have demonstrated excellence in extra-curricular activities such as drama, music, art, student government, athletics, science, leadership, service organizations, or other relevant activities 

Restrictions for students who are not presently in the St. Vrain Valley School District for the ongoing receipt of the scholarship: 

  • The student must attend an accredited college, university, trade school, community college, junior college, or other qualifying program. To remain eligible for funding, the student must maintain a 3.0 grade-point average throughout their college experience. 
  • The scholarship funds will be paid directly to the school in August of each year. The Town of Frederick Scholarship Commission or staff will review all continuing students (students awarded scholarships in previous years) for compliance with grade point average, registration, and degree pursuit requirements. 

Application and Selection

The scholarship application must be submitted on the form supplied by the Town of Frederick by the date specified above. Selection for the interview will be based on the Town of Frederick Scholarship Commission's review of the submitted materials. The Scholarship Commission will invite the top candidates for an interview.

The Scholarship Commission will conduct 30-minute interviews with the top candidates. Before applying, applicants should consider whether they can attend an interview if invited. Upon completion of the interviews, the Scholarship Commission will make a recommendation to the Town of Frederick Board of Trustees. 

Attendance at a Board of Trustees Meeting

Recipients are invited to attend a Board of Trustees Meeting to be officially awarded the scholarship and to be recognized by the Town of Frederick Board of Trustees and the Frederick Scholarship Commission.
