The Town of Frederick will host a forum for potential candidates called Election 2012: Running in the Right Direction Thursday February 9th 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Town Hall (401 Locust St.). Interim Town Clerk Michele Kelley will give important information on campaign dates and deadlines as well as have election packets available for those considering a run. In addition, Mayor Eric Doering will be giving insight about what it takes to be an elected official.
“I want to make sure those interested in running have asked themselves the right questions,” said Mayor Doering. “It is a big responsibility to represent the interests of an entire community, and hopefully my experience can be beneficial to potential candidates.”
The Mayor and three trustee positions will be available and are currently held by Mayor Doering and Trustees Amy Schiers, Fred Skates and Sue Wedel. Mayor Doering and Trustee Wedel are both term-limited after eight consecutive years in office.
At the board meeting on January 24th, the board voted to have a mail ballot election. Everyone who is registered to vote will receive a ballot in the mail March 12-16th. If residents have not received a ballot by March 20th, please contact the Town at 720.382.5500. All ballots must be returned to Town Hall in person or by mail by 7 p.m. on April 3, 2012.
