The Town of Frederick offers many Community Programs in order to connect and strengthen relationships with the residents of Frederick. The Memorial Bench and Tree Program, the Adopt a Place program and the Volunteer Program are great ways to help beautify the community you live in! We also have a Block Party Permit process available so that you can get out and enjoy your community with your neighbors!
The Frederick Police Department also has a Police Community Programs website that offers additional programs to help keep the community safe. Below are some programs that the Town of Frederick uses to reach out to the schools in the area:
If I Were Mayor... Essay Contest
Each year, the Colorado Municipal League hosts a statewide essay contest called "If I Were Mayor..." for all 7th and 8th grade students to enter their response to a tough question looking through the eyes of a mayor. Winners will receive a $500 CollegeInvest scholarship and the opportunity to attend the CML Annual Conference in Vail. For more information, contact Lisa White by email or at 303.831.6411.
Elementary School Tours
The Elementary School Tours offered by the Town provide an opportunity for an all-inclusive government experience for third and fourth grade classes. The tours involve sessions with the Frederick Police Department, the Frederick-Firestone Fire Protection District, Frederick Town Hall with Town Administrator Derek Todd and a tour of the Miners Musem, Centennial Mural, Miners Memorial and Crist Park. The tours take place annually on Fridays at the end of the school year from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and children learn all about what their government is doing to serve them. For more information on Elementary School tours please feel free to email or call 720.382.5512.
Scholarship Program
The Town of Frederick has established a program that provides two four-year scholarships per year for graduating high school students (one for a male student and one for a female student) from a Frederick high school. This scholarship grants each recipient $1,000 per year for four years for post secondary educational expenses, provided that the recipient is able to meet the ongoing eligibility requirements throughout the four-year period. To be considered for this scholarship, eligible students must complete the application form, which will be available two months prior to the early April due date.
