Because of its proximity to the Denver and Boulder metro areas, Frederick’s population has grown from a few hundred in 1907, to about 8,500 over a 13.5 square mile area today. Recent explosive growth has slowed as a result of the recession, but Frederick continues to process development proposals for new homes and businesses. As a result, Frederick is developing a diverse, solid, and growing mix of employers with over 2,000 primary jobs in areas such as biomedical, building materials, renewable energy, healthcare, manufacturing, education, automotive, retail, and professional services.
Frederick provides residents and businesses a wide variety of services and amenities, including 645 acres of town-owned parks and recreational open spaces, and nearly 70 miles of roadway. The Town also serves approximately 3,000 utility customers with water, electric, solid waste and recycling, and storm water drainage accounts. Such amenities and services have helped attract relatively young and family-oriented population, with an average age of 31 and average household size of 2.9, that is projected to grow dramatically into the future. The Town’s comprehensive plan anticipates 60,000 to 80,000 residents within 30 years over a 26 square-mile area.
