The Town of Frederick offers a competitive benefits package to all full-time employees, including medical, dental, vision and life insurance coverage, optional life and disability plans, a 457 deferred compensation retirement plan, and a generous time off package.
The Town pays 90% of the medical insurance premiums for employees and their dependents, and 100% of the dental and vision insurance premiums for employees and their dependents. The Town also pays 100% of the premiums for the basic life insurance plan for employees.
The Town offers a choice of three different medical plans through Kaiser Permanente. Two of the plans are high deductible plans with Health Savings Accounts (I) attached, and one is a more traditional HMO plan with no I option. The Town contributes generously to the I plans on the employee’s behalf – in some cases up to 90% of the annual maximum allowed by the IRS. Town contribution amounts vary depending upon the plan type chosen by the employee and whether dependents are covered.
For all full-time participating (contributing) non-sworn employees, the Town provides a match of up to 4% into the 457 retirement plan through ICMA-RC. Sworn police officers also participate in the FPPA Pension Program.
The Town provides vacation leave to all permanent full-time employees after one year of employment. During years 1 – 5, employees earn 80 hours (10 days) of vacation per year. Five (5) days of vacation are added at the beginning of the 6th year, and every five years thereafter, for a maximum of 200 hours (25 days) per year after the 15th year of employment. Employees may accrue vacation from one year to the next, but may not accrue more than two (2) times their normal vacation hours. Employees also earn 4 hours of sick leave per month, with a maximum accrual possible of 500 hours.
